Skin Cancer Awareness

The logo for the Skin Cancer Awareness website SkinCancerAwareness.com was designed by Dr. Andrew A. Hendricks to bring attention to the need for the early diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. The orange wing of the logo represents the burning rays of the sun. The blue wing depicts sun reflection on water.

Over 5 million people develop skin cancer every year in the United States. This is almost 20 times more than the incidence of breast cancer and five times more than the number of patients diagnosed with traditional cancers like colon cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, and the like. If diagnosed early, melanoma and other types of skin cancer can be successfully treated. Unfortunately, over 10,000 people in the United States still die yearly from skin cancer, usually melanoma.
