WELCOME to the Southeastern Dermatology PA Cosmetic Surgery Center. Our office welcomes patients from North and South Carolina, as well as national and international consultations. Our mission at Southeastern Dermatology, PA, is to provide excellent dermatology and cosmetic surgery care in a comfortable and inviting setting.

Dr. Andrew Hendricks is the founder and Medical Director of Southeastern Dermatology PA. He is listed in guides to America's top physicians. He and his professional staff have over 20 years of experience in providing the latest comprehensive treatments for all of your dermatology needs.

Southeastern Dermatology PA promotes non-surgical, minimally invasive procedures. Our surgical facility is one of the few dermatology offices accredited by AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care).

Our office also offers advanced anti-aging medical and surgical therapies using PRP (platelet-rich plasma), SVF (stromal vascular fraction), and autologous stem cell therapy using our patients' own bodies for natural repair.

The logo for Skin Cancer Awareness was designed by Dr. Andrew A. Hendricks to bring attention to the need for early diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. The orange wing of the logo represents the burning rays of the sun. The blue wing depicts the sun reflecting on water. Over 5 million people develop skin cancer every year in the United States. This is almost 20 times more than the incidence of breast cancer and five times more the number of patients diagnosed with traditional cancers like colon cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, and the like. If diagnosed early, melanoma and other types of skin cancer can be successfully treated. Unfortunately, over 10,000 people in the United States still die each from skin cancer, usually melanoma. Dr. Hendricks was Knighted on September 7, 2009, by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands for his educational programs. Dr. Hendricks helped organize the State of New York's 400th Anniversary Celebration in 2009.

RESEARCH PAPERS

Dr. Hendricks is the author of numerous papers on diseases of the skin, hair, and nails.

As a second-year medical student at the University of Virginia, he helped name and describe a new type of hair loss using light and electron microscopy.
During his dermatology residency at Johns Hopkins Medical Center, Dr. Hendricks was among the first to warn of the risks of CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation). His paper was initially rejected by the editors of JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) but was accepted after a special appeal from Dr. Hendricks. The protective measures described in Dr. Hendricks’ paper are now used in clinics and hospitals worldwide.
Dr. Hendricks was the first to document allergic reactions to topical nitroglycerin, the association between erythema annulare and ascariasis, the skin lesions of primary biliary cirrhosis, nail changes from daunorubicin therapy, cutaneous aspergillosis, and more.

Dr. Hendricks is the author of many papers on early American history, particularly in reference to the founding of New Netherland. A book by Eduard van Breen, The Spirit of the Half Moon, published by the New Netherland Museum in 2016, describes Dr. Hendricks' initiatives.

Emily L. Townsend, PA-C

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

Emily received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from North Carolina State University. She went on to graduate with a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Methodist University. She is certified and trained in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). She attends local and national medical meetings.

Emily provides excellent medical and surgical care for diseases of the skin, hair, and nails. She is also trained in administering PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatments and other therapies for hair loss in men and women. She assists Dr. Hendricks with the management of routine and complex skin diseases. Emily has a passion for helping patients achieve their skin care goals and maintaining healthy skin.

Heather D. Lowry, RN, BSN

MEDICAL AND COSMETIC NURSE

Heather is a native of Pembroke, NC. She received her Registered Nurse degree from Robeson Community College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Fayetteville State University. Heather assists Dr. Hendricks with dermatology and cosmetic surgery procedures. She administers Botox, Dysport, Juvederm, Restylane, and other fillers to improve face lines and wrinkles. Heather also does laser therapy to remove excess hair, brown spots, spider veins, melasma, and tattoos under Dr. Hendricks' supervision.

Heather is certified and trained in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). She has received additional cosmetic training from the Allergan Medical Institute and Galderma Aesthetics. She also attends local and national meetings to learn the latest cosmetic procedures. She recently attended the American Academy of Dermatology’s Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

Heather is dedicated to helping her patients achieve a “refreshed and natural look” with minimal downtime.

Christy S. Bryant, RN – Nursing and Cosmetic Advisor

Christy is a native of eastern North Carolina. She received her Registered Nurse training at Robeson Community College. Christy assists and helps coordinate cosmetic procedures. She performs Botox, Juvederm, Dysport, Restylane and other cosmetic treatments under Dr. Hendricks’ supervision. She is trained in BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).

Christy is trained in the latest cosmetic procedures. She also attends local and national meetings to learn the latest cosmetic procedures. She recently attended the American Academy of Dermatology's Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

Ruby Jackson - Medical Esthetician

Ruby received her esthetician degree from Fayetteville Technical Community College. She is a medical assistant and esthetician at Southeastern Dermatology, PA. She has experience in dermatology, cosmetic surgery, laser procedures, and skin cancer treatments.

Ruby is trained in the most up-to-date cosmetic procedures. Her areas of expertise include Secret Pro RF laser for wrinkles and age lines; CoolScupting for non-surgical fat reduction; Clear & Brilliant laser to shrink pores; Rejuvapen for surgical scars and acne scars; Hydrafacial to freshen the face; Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to enhance the skin or grow hair; dermaplaning to smooth the facial bumps and irregularities; EM Sculpt to contour the body; and more.

Ruby has a great passion for her patients and enjoys teaching them about how to look their best. Her experience and training allow her to highlight her patients' assets and make them look their best.
