In today’s society, plump and full lips are considered to be beautiful. Just open up a pop culture magazine or look online; full lips are everywhere. Many women and some men want to achieve a plumper pout, but they don’t want to undergo an invasive surgery in order to get it.
Restylane® is a dermal filler made from hyaluronic acid, which is a substance that occurs naturally in the body and helps to add volume to the skin. It can, therefore, be used to fill in facial wrinkles or make thin lips plumper. It has been approved by the FDA, and clients do not need to undergo allergy tests beforehand.
How is It Used?
Restylane® is administered through injection by one of our trained injection specialists in our office. The patient will generally see immediate results, and those results usually last for about six months or longer. Most side effects are mild and fade within just days after treatment.
Benefits of Restylane®
There are many advantages to using this injectable for lip enhancement. First of all, the treatment is non-invasive. Although surgeries involving lip implants can be effective, they require quite a bit of downtime in comparison to Restylane®.
Another benefit to using this product is that the results are extremely natural-looking. People will notice that your lips look full, but it won’t be obvious that you’ve had work done. Treatment does not involve incisions or scars, and it is very safe.
What Does the Patient Have to Do to Prepare for the Treatment?
The patient should avoid certain medications for at least one week before the procedure and for two days after. They may take Tylenol, though. They should not take St. John’s Wort or Vitamin E for two or three days before the procedure and two or three days after. Multivitamins are acceptable.
Who are Good Candidates for Restylane®?
A good candidate for this treatment is someone who is unhappy with the appearance of their thin lips. Restylane® was designed for adults and should therefore not be used by anybody under 22 years old.
During a consultation at Southeastern Dermatology, our team of highly qualified cosmetic professionals will be happy to evaluate your lips and help you determine if you are a candidate for this treatment. Our office is located in Lumberton, but we gladly serve the Fayetteville and surrounding areas as well. Contact us today to schedule your appointment to learn more about Restylane®.
