What Is Restylane?
Restylane, a product of Sweden, made its debut in 1996 following decades of research. Over the past two decades, more than one million treatments have been given to patients in more than 60 nations.
Restylane, a biodegradable gel, also is a NASHA, a medical term that means Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. This acid naturally occurs in your body and is put to use both carrying and binding water.
Restylane has gained a reputation as a versatile treatment, working to:
- Reduce folds and wrinkles.
- Enhance facial contours.
- Sculpt lips.
At Southeastern Dermatology, Dr. Andrew A. Hendricks and our friendly and professional team can use Restylane to help patients achieve their aesthetic goals – safely, quickly and effectively. Unlike other injectable anti-aging products, Restylane is not derived from animals. No skin test is required and most patients can start treatment immediately.
During Restylane treatment, the product is injected into your skin. After the injection, it begins its work to create volume needed to treat wrinkles and folds. Restylane also works to shape facial contours. Restylane also can be used on the lips for patients who want to enhance their look, but retain natural-appearing lips that don’t look “worked on.”
Results are immediate and treatment has proven safe and effective – and without leaving scars.
How Long Will Results Last?
Restylane treatments show results right away and can last for six months or longer, depending on the individual patient.
At Southeastern Dermatology, Dr. Hendricks meets with patients one-on-one to offer consultations, review your medical history and develop a treatment plan to meet your aesthetic goals.
We find that many patients benefit from regular follow-up treatments to help Restylane results last even longer.
Possible Side Effects
Immediately following treatment, patients can experience redness, swelling, tenderness or itching in and around the treatment area. These are normal reactions and no cause for concern. Any minor pain and other side effects disappear after several days.
Between six months and a year after treatment, Restylane begins to break down in the body and is replaced by water. As Restylane is absorbed by your body, it safely converts into water and carbon dioxide. It then disappears.
We all get older, and many of us show signs of aging we would rather not have on display. Restylane treatments give patients the chance to have their natural beauty restored.
If you want to fight signs of aging and return to a more youthful and vital-looking you, Restylane treatments may be for you. Contact Southeastern Dermatology today to learn how Restylane can change your look for the better.
