What Is Perlane?
Perlane gained approval from the federal government in 2007 and is what is known as a mid-dermal filler that uses hyaluronic acid. Unlike its relative product Restylane, Perlane is made to treat more severe wrinkles and facial folds, including those found on the sides of your mouth. It also can be used for lip augmentation.
How Perlane Works
Doctor Hendricks will inject Perlane to increase volume and to restore surface contour in folds and wrinkles on the face. Treatments can last for around six months.
Is Perlane Different from Restylane?
Each product contains hyaluronic acid. But the big difference between the two is that hyaluronic acid gel particles that are found in Perlane are bigger than those in Restylane. This gives Perlane more power to both lift and fill areas that patients want improved. At Southeastern Dermatology, Dr. Hendricks meets with patients one-on-one to determine which filler treatment is best for them.
Perlane can help you reduce wrinkles and folds. The product is designed to both bind and attract H20 molecules, which helps patients keep desired volume. It contains hyaluronic acid, which occurs in your body naturally.
The acid in Perlane comes in a clear, gel form, which is specially designed to slow its breakdown by your skin’s enzymes. Also, it does not contain animal protein, which helps prevent the transmission of disease. No pre-testing for allergies is required with Perlane treatments.
Can Perlane Be Used With Other Fillers?
It can. At Southeastern Dermatology, Dr. Hendricks’ expertise includes knowing which combination of fillers will provide the safest and most effective results for each individual patient.
Is Perlane Effective?
Perlane was tested in the United States during four clinical trials. During these tests, more than 500 patients took part in the effort to determine the best and safest uses for Perlane.
These trials examined effectiveness and safety factors in mid-to-deep skin injection for the treatment of both moderate and severe wrinkles and folds of the face, including nasolabial folds.
The results indicated Perlane was effective compared to other dermal fillers. In fact, the studies indicated more than 90 percent of patients reported improvements in their lines and wrinkles three months after Perlane treatment. Six months after treatment, about 70 percent of patients still reported improvements in their appearances.
If you are searching for a filler treatment to help you gain a more youthful and vital-looking face, it may be time to consider Perlane treatments.
