What Is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting helps you freeze stubborn fat away, safely and effectively. With CoolSculpting treatments, we can target and cool specific fat cells in body areas where you would like to make a positive change in your appearance.
Unlike other fat-reducing techniques, CoolSculpting requires no surgery, does not use needles and comes with little to no recovery time. The procedure takes only an hour or two — time that patients can spend reading, working on their computers or just relaxing.
Results are visible about three weeks after treatment and results will continue to improve for several months.
Some patients who want to remove fat opt for liposuction, but if you want a less invasive procedure with no downtime, CoolSculpting may be the better treatment for you to lose unwanted fat.
At Southeastern Dermatology, CoolSculpting is available for women and men. Doctor Hendricks takes the time to meet patients individually to go over aesthetic goals, review medical histories and your previous efforts to lose unwanted fat.
CoolSculpting’s name accurately reflects the procedure – in how it works and the results it produces. The procedure freezes and kills fat cells that lead to unattractive fatty deposits. This allows you to sculpt a more attractive body. Research indicates that extreme cold can help produce improved body contours. This process is known medically as cryolipolysis.
Another great aspect of CoolSculpting is that it can be used to reduce fat deposits just about anywhere on your body. During CoolSculpting, an applicator devise is connected to a hose. Next, we run cold air through the hose and into the applicator. The applicator is then used to freeze targeted fat cells.
We may use a gel pad during CoolSculpting to cover the treatment area for better protection. Patients can feel the cold start to work after a few minutes into treatment. Some patients may experience a tingling sensation, but this is a normal reaction to the procedure and no cause for concern.
The treatment area eventually becomes numb, which means CoolSculpting is pain-free. After treatment is complete, massage is used to help the treated area and bolster blood flow.
CoolSculpting causes fat cells to freeze and crystalize. After a period of about two months, these fat cells will die off. Once fat cells are dead, your immune system’s enzymes help remove them. If weight gain occurs after CoolSculpting, new fat cells typically emerge in body areas that did not undergo CoolSculpting treatment.
If exercise and diet have failed you in your fight against fat, CoolSculpting can allow you to finally win the battle. Contact Southeastern Dermatology today to schedule your CoolSculpting appointment.
