Achieving toned, tighter body contours is a common goal for men and women who have trouble with excess body fat. At Southeastern Dermatology, our body contouring treatments create natural, long-lasting results with minimal downtime.
What is Body Contouring?
Even with proper diet and exercise, some fatty areas of the body cannot be effectively targeted, such as the abdomen, thighs, love handles and thighs. Minimally-invasive body contouring treatments can help remove fat in these areas to create better definition. At Southeastern Dermatology, we currently offer multiple solutions for toning and trimming troublesome areas on the body:
Vaser® Hi Def
Featured on several television networks such as BBC and VH1, Vaser® Hi Def is an advanced alternative to traditional liposuction. Utilizing ultrasound technology, Vaser® Hi Def involves injecting treated areas with a special saline solution that numbs the area and makes it easier to break up the fatty tissue.
A small ultrasound probe then emits sound energy to the treated areas, breaking up fatty tissue while leaving blood vessels and connective tissue intact. Vaser® Hi Def then extracts the liquified fat through a gentle suction process, and the underlying muscles are tightened to add better definition.
While traditional liposuction uses a hollow tube to extract fat from the body, body jet contouring uses high-speed streams of water to gently remove fat from treated areas. This method is often easier on the body and involves a shorter recovery time.
In addition to safely and effectively removing fat, body jet treatment also minimizes damage to surrounding cells, tissues and blood vessels during treatment, increasing patient comfort during the healing process.
We also offer multiple forms of liposuction as well as CoolSculpting®, which can be discussed with Dr. Hendricks prior to treatment to determine which treatment is best to achieve your desired results.
Am I a Good Candidate for Body Contouring?
While body contouring treatments are effective at toning problematic areas of the body, they are not a solution for weight loss or a replacement for proper diet and exercise. Ideal candidates for body contouring generally meet the following requirements:
- Are in good overall health
- Have no medical conditions that could potentially impair surgery or healing
- Have elastic skin with localized deposits of fat
- Have realistic expectations for treatment
During your consultation, Dr. Hendricks will evaluate your individual condition to determine whether body contouring or another course of treatment will fulfill your cosmetic goals.
